FEEDING BROILERS AT HOME IS POSSIBLE WITHOUT COMPOUND FEED
Many farmers use ready-made complex “meals” – compound feed for growing meat breeds of birds. These are usually high-calorie combined mixes that contain everything necessary for the full development of poultry: grain, vegetable, animal proteins, mineral components, and vitamin supplements. With their help, birds develop immunity against various diseases, the backbone is formed without deviations, and the muscle mass builds up quickly. Thanks to its convenient granulated form, nutritional composition and lack of cooking, it is not necessary to do without it on poultry farms. But in a household where the production volumes are smaller, instead of them, and also together with them, you can and should use your own feed.

WET MIXES AND YEAST-BASED FEEDS AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO DRY ONES
Monotonous dry food quickly bores even chickens. To increase your appetite, you can add flavorful yeast mixes to your daily menu. Ground grain mixes are subject to yeast, which are then diluted with animals, as well as mineral feeds. First, fresh-pressed yeast is diluted with warm water (200-300 g per 10 kg of dry matter). Then fill in the remaining ingredients so that the mass layer does not exceed 30 cm.
To prepare 10 kg of the mixture, you will need 15 liters of water. The resulting mass is well mixed, put in the sun, or on the battery, stirring every 2 hours. After 6 hours, the mix is ready for use. “Sweeten” it can be a handful of boiled potatoes or grated carrots. Leftovers from the feeders are removed immediately after the meal to prevent them from turning sour. In addition to yeast, prepare ordinary wet mixes. From the first days, the Chicks willingly eat millet, small wheat and corn flour, boiled eggs, fresh greens. Over time, the porridge can be mixed with the remains of bread: crumbs, crusts, soaked breadcrumbs.
Boiled potatoes will please the “children”, provided that they are not green. As a vitamin dope from the age of 5 days, grated carrots and yellow squash are mixed (5 g per head), which is also used as a preventive anti-helminth agent. Gradually, the food is enriched with mineral components — bone flour, shell, chalk. For better functioning of the stomach’s muscular system, gravel is poured into it once a week (0.5 kg per 100 heads).
At the time of plumage, stock up on cabbage — it contains sulfur, necessary for the formation of the “fur” part of the bird.
MILK IN THE FEEDING DIET: WHAT ARE THE FEATURES OF CHOOSING A PRODUCT
- skim milk (skim milk);
- fresh cottage cheese;
They are fed separately or together with grain mixes. Yogurt can be poured from the first days of life of winged Pets. But it should not replace water — constant watering of chickens with fresh clean water is mandatory.
Mixtures with the addition of dairy products quickly deteriorate, so they are scattered in the feeders immediately after production.
A BUNCH OF FRESH GREENS-A CHARGE OF ENERGY FOR THE WHOLE DAY
Starting from 3 days, green food appears in the diet of yellow frogs. Young greens of dandelions, leaf fall, peas, clover, alfalfa are crushed into particles no larger than 0.3 cm. Then add to the mix at the rate of about 5 grams per head. The fresher the grass, the more it retains vitamins, so it is recommended to mow just before serving the “dish”. So that the greens are not trampled, you need to make a bunch of it and hang it near the wall. This way, she will attract more attention to herself and will not be trampled into the litter.
If you set up a poultry-yard in winter, you will have to get fresh greens with the help of sprouted barley grain. To do this, you need:
- Pour the grain into a wooden dish, cover with water for a couple of days.
- Spread it in small boxes with a layer of up to 10 cm.
- Put in a warm, preferably dark place.
When sprouts occur, the renewed grains become grass flour. To meet the daily norm, it is enough to feed only 2-3 grams of energy mix to weekly broilers, and 5 grams to older broilers. You should not exceed the limit, since fiber affects birds negatively.
The lack of fresh greens is partially compensated by dry hay harvested since summer, dried nettle leaves, grass and coniferous flour.
FEEDERS, WATERERS AND THE CHICKENS THEMSELVES MUST ALWAYS BE CLEAN
How successful the feeding of broiler chickens will depend not only on what they eat but also how. If a queue of people forms near the feeders, it is obvious that not everyone will be able to eat normally. Arrange the dishes in such a way as to avoid crowding. It is important to take care of its cleanliness because unsanitary conditions lead to digestive disorders, which naturally affects the growth of broilers. As soon as it becomes dirty, try to wash the containers with hot water.
Feeders are not filled completely but by one third. It is better to add fresh feed once more than to throw away the trampled old one. From the age of 7 days to one and a half months, twice a week, chickens are fed with a 0.1% solution of potassium permanganate. The drink is poured for half an hour in the morning, then the drinker should be rinsed and filled with clean water. This procedure is designed to normalize the digestive system. Frail, smudged yellowheads need to be put in individual cages. For them, this is like a resort where they gain strength, but you will have to cook eggnog for them and give them water from an eyedropper. The cocktail recipe is simple: half a glass of fresh milk and egg yolk. Two or three such procedures will quickly put the chick on its feet.
